IT Project Management Enterprise Dashboard Example

Here is a look at an enterprise dashboard used by a university information technology department to track their projects during the year. This project dashboard is available online, so you may want to check it out.

Nothing special going on here in the graphics department, but it’s instructive to look at grouping and layout of the metrics featured. The first few elements on the dashboard (reporting period information, links to forms and Important Information) are static in nature and, in my opinion, should be treated in a header or sidebar type of fashion. The “real” information starts with the charts of the IT Resource Work Distribution Trend and Overall Work Totals to Date. This is where the real project dashboard starts.

Other IT project management metrics and KPIs include:

  • Percentage of Project Completed
  • Status Legend (Green - on-time/on-budget, Yellow - potential issues, Red - needs immediate attention, Blue - closed)
  • Project Metrics Snapshot (project ID, project name, overall status, planned and actual start dates and end dates, % complete, status reports)
  • Accomplishments during Reporting Period
  • Management Alert
  • Project Timeline (graphic of gantt chart from microsoft project)
  • Dashboard Reporting Period History Links

All in all, a straight-forward and simple enterprise dashboard applied to project management of key initiatives.
